Michael develops and provides transfer pricing, valuation and growth transactions solutions to clients and stakeholders focused on delivering measurable value. His approach emphasizes compliance, risk mitigation, increasing cash tax benefit, minimizing effective tax rate, and leveraging existing competencies and processes. He has extensive international industry and professional services experience, developed while in Big-4 and in industry as a global function leader at Cargill, concerning transfer pricing, valuation, structuring, growth transactions, process design, and tax controversy management.
Michael has deep expertise in transfer pricing, transactions and valuation concerning intangible assets. His experience includes the creation, design, and implementation of global structures and processes for intangibles creation, use, ownership, and transfer pricing for multinational clients. He has also led and operated these structures in industry including due diligence and integration of intangibles acquired in M&A and JVs, economic and functional analyses, operational and compliance documentation, APAs, and tax dispute management in numerous jurisdictions.
Prior to returning to professional advisory services, Michael developed and led Cargill’s global intangibles ownership and transfer pricing function. Earlier, he held leadership roles in the finance consulting practices of Deloitte and PwC providing M&A, JV, licensing, partnering, transfer pricing, and valuation consulting. His expertise includes business enterprise and intangible asset valuation for tax and transactions purposes; transfer pricing; transactions due diligence, target integration and intangibles migration; trade flow analysis; cost sharing; royalty rate determination; incremental profit analysis; OECD/U.S. documentation; advance pricing agreements and tax controversy management.
Michael has an MBA Concentrated in Finance from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from DePaul University as well as certificates in Strategic Management of Intellectual Property from Kellogg School of Management, and Competitive Technical Intelligence from Cal Tech. He is a CPA, member of the AICPA and MNCPA, and a former instructor for the Kellogg School of Management Executive Seminar Series and BIO business development courses.
